Thursday 26thApril. Kutna Hora to Hlinsko
I have been following EuroVelo route 4 . Requires a bit of concentration but in the main is easy to follow. However I am now in the Bohemian-Moravian highland and I certainly have had a lot of hills. It feels great to be on high ground again, though my route has made sure I stay off the main roads and thus have as many ups and downs between small villages as possible. Some of the towns/villages are bigger than I initially think. This morning, for example, I stopped for a very nice coffee on what I thought was the Main Street. But when I proceeded, I found a large square with market taking place.
Much of the route, I think, coincides with an old pilgrim route, with churches on hills and wayside chapels.
Am staying in a pension for £18 plus £3 for breakfast! I was looking for a campsite but Booking.com found me this deal. It even has a kettle (love my tea). The pension is situated in the Hlinsko open air museum. This is a museum village of timbered structures of the original Hlinsko architecture. - The pension is a reconstructed with en-suite etc and very comfortable.
