Yesterday 25 miles from Stamfordham to the ferry terminal at North Shields
Today 30 ish miles from the port at Ijmuiden to Katwijk.

A very smooth crossing on a very large boat. The staff at Newcastle let me board first so no hanging around, I had a very nice little cabin plus meals on board.
The ferry reached Holland at 09.45 but first on but cycles last off. There were only 2 other bikes a couple cycling to Sweden, with an enormous amount of stuff.
I eventually found my route South down the coast, cycling through the National Park Zuid-Kennemerland and then thriugh a protected Dunes landscape to Katwijk. Have stopped early because I found a camp site, and when I turn East away from the coast they might be scarce or not open yet.
The cycle paths put ours to shame. there are so many of them it is easy to take the wrong turn. Vigilance is needed at each junction, but with the ease of cycling it is easy to zone out (as I did), and miss the turn. A good route for bird watches.
There is a long promenade at Katwijk with  sculptures beach shops, surf shops, and fried food stalls. The children here are obviously expected to take beach digging very seriously.
