May 1st. Rest day in Piestany

A world famous thermal health spa known for thermal mud. At this location the river Vah forms an island, known as spa island. This hosts gardens and a thermal resort, an expensive looking hotel, an old fashioned sanatorium style hospital for rheumatic type conditions, a bandstand, other hotels and a reception centre where you book your treatments.
The town is famous for its mud treatments, unfortunately (or fortunately) these have to be booked in advance, so I had to make do with the thermal water treatment. So you go to the reception and book your treatment and are given a time. You arrive at the correct place to which you have been allocated and are shown into a wooden cubicle and told to strip - silly me I have been carrying a swimming costume - then you walk through the corridor to the shower then the pool, you sit in it for 20 minutes. You do not shower after, but fortunately you are allowed to put your clothes back on!
The first of May is Labour day and a public holiday in Slovakia all shops including supermarkets are shut, restaurants are open. There was a band playing in the bandstand, and a lot of ice cream has been eaten, including by me.
